The by origin family business named Van Roij Engineering, has undergone a true transformation into the organisation which is now known as Eurofast. What started out as a sole proprietorship for compression fittings, has grown out to be the multinational for mechanically fastening the building envelope.

From bedroom to business property

Slowly but steadily the success followed for Van Roij Engineering and the compression fittings. This success went hand-in-hand with the public housing industry, which took off in the Netherlands in the late seventies. The bedroom and garage became too small and the first move took place. The company (just 3 people at that time) moved into a new building with office space and a warehouse on the Wattstraat in Deurne.

FOUNDING OF VAN ROIJ COMPANY

A second company was founded in 1985, called Van Roij Lastechniek B.V. (translated: Van Roij Welding technique). This company supplied stud and bolt welding equipment and associated materials to the metalworking industry. Due to his previous work experience, a familiar industry for Van Roij Sr.

EXTENSION OF PROPERTY AND PERSONNEL

The Van Roij companies are growing rapidly and due to lack of space, it was once again time to move into a bigger building. An area of around 5000 m2 was bought on the Jan Tooropstraat in Deurne, where they would build a new modern building with 3 halls and 15 offices.  One hall was built as a warehouse to stock the fast moving products and one hall was dedicated to the equipment for the own production of pressure plates: The Eurofast® DVP. Later on (in 2009 and 2013) two more halls are added to this building. To this day, this building is still the base of Eurofast Group and Business Unit Eurofast Netherlands.

After first gaining work experience elsewhere, the two sons of mister Van Roij Sr. joined the company in 1990.

FOUNDING OF VAN ROIJ FASTENERS B.V.

The activity of selling screws became more and more important for the organisation. And about 15 years after the pressure plates and associated screws for Flat roof were added as a side product to the Van Roij Lastechniek B.V. range, a separate company was created dedicated to this specialty. Van Roij Fasteners B.V. was born; a company for fasteners for Flat roof, Cladding, industry and special purposes.

FROM FATHER TO SONS

In 1995 Van Roij Sr. assigned the Van Roij companies to his sons Tjeu and Jos van Roij. Together they shaped their father’s service-oriented approach to the market further, with the focal point on the services of Van Roij Fasteners B.V. To this service package they added, amongst other: a service car with technical advisor on standby and a Quality Centre for in-house testing of fastening products.

FOREIGN EXPANSION

The apple does not fall far from the tree, the brothers Van Roij also had true mercantile spirits. Therefore it did not take long before yet another company was founded; Van Roij International B.V. Started with the ambition to start-up multiple international companies. The brothers lost no time, after extensive market research in various countries they founded that same year Van Roij fasteners Hungária Kft. in Hungary, for the Eastern European market.

ACQUISITION AND MERGER OF VAN ROIJ COMPANIES

In the year of the 25th anniversary, the company piqued the interest of the German Würth Group.
The worldwide market leader for fastening systems came across Van Roij Fasteners while mapping out their plans. And were seriously interested in Van Roij, since the Würth Group was not yet active in the market with fastening solutions for Flat roof themselves.

When the opportunity arose to join such a giant as a still relatively small family business, the choice was quickly made for the Van Roij Brothers. Especially since this take-over marks the growth of the company and the vision of directors Tjeu and Jos van Roij; to work on the internationalisation of the market. This take-over resulted in the merge of the different Van Roij companies under the new name: Van Roij Fasteners Europe B.V. (later on also known as VRF Europe B.V.).

ACQUISITION OF DUVIMEX BELGIUM B.V.B.A.

In the meantime the van Roij family had completely withdrawn from the organisation and had handed over the management tasks. Nonetheless, the spirit of the once family business was still very much alive and well, and runs like a thread through the company. Seeing and seizing opportunities, that is what the new management did with the acquisition of Duvimex Belgium bvba. The company specialised in fasteners for the industry and cladding became the second company, next to Van Roij Fasteners Hungária Kft., of Van Roij Fasteners Europe outside of the Netherlands.    

ADDITION TO THE RANGE: TOOLS & ACCESSORIES

In the year 2007 another take-over took place. The take-over of Falnim, made Van Roij Fasteners Europe also a supplier for tools and accessories for the roofing industry, which complement the core business of fastening solutions.

MULTIPLE EXPANSIONS THROUGHOUT EUROPE

The company was growing rapidly. Not only with the expansion of the building in the Netherlands, but also and not in the least in organisation size. In just three years, three divisions were added as part of the internationalisation of van Roij Fasteners Europe B.V. These divisions are located in United Kingdom (2015), Denmark (2016) and in Poland (2017).

ONE GROUP, ONE NAME: EUROFAST

To reflect the international character of the organisation and to make use of the meanwhile well-known brand name, all companies and divisions of Van Roij Fastener Europe took on the name Eurofast, creating the Eurofast Group.

MANUFACTURER FOR MECHANICAL FASTENING SOLUTIONS FOR THE ENTIRE BUILDING ENVELOPE

The organisation strives to be a bit better every day than the day before, to serve our customers the best way we can and to continue to grow. Therefore Eurofast keeps evolving and expanding.
2019 was yet another year which made this clear.
To keep up with the demand of the customer, the production facility of the Netherlands received more moulding machines. Also Eurofast Hungary was also growing out of its jacket, which resulted in the built of a twice as large warehouse to keep ensuring quick deliveries from stock.  Next to these expansions, also the Eurofast Group expended in the form of the acquisition of activities of Baltic Fasteners sp. z o.o, now called Eurofast Poland. With this strategic takeover, the Eurofast Group strengthens its European network and makes Eurofast manufacturer of mechanical fastening solutions for the entire building envelope.

A dark day for Eurofast...

On 4 March we received the very sad news that our highly valued CEO, colleague and friend Jaap van der Graaf has passed away unexpectedly, at the age of 61.

Thanks to Jaap’s drive and entrepreneurship, Eurofast has developed into a leading organisation in mechanical fastening. With his human approach and dedication, Jaap had become the face of Eurofast. Although he may not have said it often, he was tremendously proud of Eurofast and its Eurofasters.

We are very grateful of what he has meant for Eurofast. We miss him as a person and as a leader and we will continue the company in his example!
